INTO THE MYSTERIES
Ceramic Censers
Product Design
    (2021)

As part of my project, Into the Mysteries, I designed a collection of slip casted, ceramic pots and made them to be used as superstitious censers. Their forms, inspired by symbols of industrialisation like the metal gear or stack chimney, aim to subvert something that represents the divide between nature and culture, turning it into something superstitious - something that encourages a connection between us and the world. Finished with a velvet blue underglaze, the censers take on the colour of the ubiquitous evil eye amulet.

Large censer, 200 x 400 mm.
